Enlarged Erie Canal Lock 28

Main article: Enlarged Erie Canal Lock 28

Just west of Lock E11 on the south bank of the modern canal (Mohawk River) is the remains of an Old Erie Canal Lock. Known as the 'Yankee Hill' lock, this site was cleaned up and currently is used as a canal park with a dock for boaters to stop and visit the site. The Canalway trail also runs through the area so this makes a peaceful stop to take a walk and/or use the picnic tables and grills. Also on site is an old canal grocery store that you can enter to experience what life would have been like here over 100 years ago.
