- The New York State Canal Corporation today announced the official opening of an eight-mile Canalway Trail segment in Cayuga and Onondaga Counties. The completion of this trail segment between Schasel Park in Port Byron and Route 31 in Jordan creates 20-miles of continuous trail along the Old Erie Canal between Camillus and Port Byron. read more...

[edit] News: Canal Corperation Annoounces Target Opening Date and Hours for 2008 Navigation Season (March 19, 2008)
- The New York State Canal Corporation today announced that the target date for opening the 183rd consecutive navigation season on the New York State Canal System is Thursday, May 1, 2008, weather permitting.
- The Corporation also announced a reduction in the hours of operation and its staffing for seasonal work program, which allows for a savings of roughly $1 million. The hours of operation for the 2008 navigation season will be 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. These hours were most recently in place during the 1991 and 1992 navigation seasons. Read more...
[edit] News: Canal Corporation Announces Revision to Projected Closing Date (October 8th, 2007)
- The Canal Corporation announced today that the projected closing date on the New York State Canal System to recreational traffic is Thursday, November 1, 2007, and to commercial traffic Wednesday, November 7, 2007, a week ahead of the originally scheduled closing date of Thursday, November 15, 2007. [edit] Canal Corporation Announces Scheduled Lockings to Help Conserve Water (September 17, 2007)
- The New York State Canal Corporation today announced that effective 7 a.m. on Tuesday, September 18, locks E-7 (Niskayuna, Schenectady County) through E-20 (Marcy, Oneida County) on the Erie Canal will be operated on a modified schedule for recreational vessels. The locks will open for eastbound traffic on the hour and westbound traffic on the half hour. - The New York State Canal Corporation and Erie County announced today that work will begin this June on a 3.5-mile segment of the Erie Canalway Trail from Tonawanda to Amherst. The new Trail segment, between the City of Tonawanda line and Sweet Home Road in Amherst, will connect nearly 90 miles of continuous trail and help complete the Canalway Trail in Western New York.
