The lock is located 7 miles north of Lock C6 and just south of the Fort Edward Yacht Basin (the free terminal wall). The lock lifts boat ten feet, from 119 feet to 129 feet above sea level.

The lock master can be reached at on VHF channel 13 or by phone at (518) 747-4614. Lock C8 is two miles north-east.

Directions: The lock can be access just south of the State Route 4 bridge that crosses the artificial channel. When heading north towards the heart of Fort Edward it will be on your left. When leaving downtown Fort Edward the lock is on your right just over the bridge. There is also the NYS Canal Corporation work/storage facility on the north east side of the lock. It has its own entrance on the north side of the bridge.
