[edit] How to Add a Map to a Page

Adding a map to a page is easy, there are only a few things that you need to do. 1.) First is to copy the following text into the page that you are editing, where you would like the map to show up.

  <div style="float: right; ">
  PUT COPIED MAP TEXT HERE
  </div>

2.) On the page that you are editing, there will be link that says: "make a map". Clicking on this, and a map editor will open.

3.) Center the map on the proper location that you are looking for. Also adjust the zoom so it is appropriate. (not too far in, but not too far out.)

4.) Add markers if you would like by clicking on the map. (Create links by using the normal linking method: eg.: "[[this is the link]]"

5.) Change the other fields to adjust the map settings if you would like.

6.) Copy the code that is printed below the map, and paste it in place of the bold part above.

7.) You can change the markers from the default one to any of the following:

  • airport, bank, bath, boatramp, building, bampground, dive, drinks, fishing, food, gas, golf, hike, hotel, house, hunting, info, marina, markers, medical, parachute, park, picnic, scenic, spa, sski, swim, wski.
  • Note: If you want to know what each looks like, enter into your browser: "http://www.nycanals.com/park.png" if you want to know what "park" looks like. Note that these are all in lowercase.
