Lake Ontario

Lake Ontario is the eastern most of the five great lakes. It has played a critical role in the wars and the transportation of goods prior to the building of the Erie Canal. Though originally bypassed by the Erie Canal, the lake's importance was clear and the building Oswego Canal set the stage for a boom along the entire lake.

Lake Ontario now lined with many canals and navigable rivers that offer boaters many recreational activities. Access is available from the south east by the Oswego Canal and the port city of Oswego.
